What a great event in downtown St. Louis on Labor Day! The first stage of the Tour of Missouri was won by British powerhouse Mark Cavendish of the Columbia team.

Mark Cavendish won the sprint,  to win stage 1. Second place was for Juan Jose Haedo (Saxo Bank) of Argentina. Thor Hushovd (Cervelo Test Team) of Norway took third place.
